A corrugated carton made to your internal dimensions, in the board grade the journey requires, in the style that suits how you pack. Specified, sampled, then produced.
Bespoke carton manufacture means corrugated boxes produced to your specification rather than bought from a stock range. The specification covers internal dimensions, board grade and flute, box style, and print or plain finish. WSUK arranges carton manufacture for UK businesses where stock sizes do not fit the product, where the board grade needs to match a specific journey or stacking load, or where volume makes a made-to-size box cheaper per despatch than a standard one plus void fill. A sample is approved before the production run. For inserts, foam and non-carton formats, see bespoke packaging.
Get them right and the box is cheaper to ship, stronger in transit and faster to pack.
Specified from the product, not the other way round. Internal rather than external, because that is the measurement that decides whether the product fits and how much air you are shipping.
Single wall, double wall or triple wall, with the flute profile and liner grades chosen for the weight, the stacking load and whether the box will be palletised or go through a parcel network.
Regular slotted, full overlap, die-cut crash-lock, book wrap, tray and lid - chosen for how the pack is built at the bench and how it has to be opened.
The price per box is the wrong comparison. The right one is cost per despatch, and that includes the air.
From product measurement to a production run you have already seen.
External product dimensions, weight, and what inner protection has to fit alongside it. That gives the internal carton size.
Wall construction, flute and liners for the weight and stacking load; box style and closure for how you pack and how the customer opens it.
A sample carton made to the specification, tested with your product and your pack method before anything is produced.
The approved carton is manufactured and supplied, and can be held on call-off so you are not storing the whole run.
Cartons are specified from our Midlands Golden Triangle base and supplied to businesses across the UK - including the ones whose current box was chosen because it was the nearest size available.
Bespoke carton manufacture is the production of corrugated boxes to a specification you own rather than to a stock size someone else set. There are four variables and all of them matter. Internal dimensions decide whether the product fits and how much empty space you are paying a carrier to move; they are specified internally, from the product plus whatever protection sits around it, because an external measurement tells you nothing about what will go inside. Board construction - single, double or triple wall, with a flute profile and liner grades - decides whether the box survives the journey and the stack; over-specifying it wastes money on every unit and under-specifying it produces crushed cartons at the bottom of a pallet. Box style decides how fast the pack is to build and how the customer gets into it: a regular slotted carton, a full overlap for heavier contents, a die-cut crash-lock that needs no tape on the base, a book wrap for flat goods, a tray and lid for presentation. And print or plain decides whether the outside of the box is doing any work for the brand. The economics are frequently misread, because people compare the unit price of a made-to-size carton against the unit price of a stock one. The comparison that matters is the delivered cost per despatch: the stock carton that is three centimetres too big in each direction brings void fill, bench time and a volumetric surcharge with it on every order. A sample is always made and approved before a production run, with your own product in it. If the specification work shows a stock size would genuinely do, we will say so - see packaging supplies. For the inserts and foam that go inside, see bespoke packaging.
Specification first, then a quote against it.

Everything you need to know about bespoke carton manufacture at WSUK, answered plainly.
Yes - that is the point of the service. We specify internally, from the product plus any inner protection, so the finished carton fits what actually goes in it.
It depends on the weight, how the cartons are stacked, and whether they travel palletised or through a parcel network. We specify it rather than defaulting to double wall for everything, because over-specified board costs money on every unit.
There is a practical minimum because the carton is being made rather than picked off a shelf. Tell us the volumes and we will tell you what quantity makes sense - and whether a stock size would be the better answer at your volume.
Yes, always. A physical sample is made to the specification and you test it with your own product and your own pack method before production.
Regular slotted cartons, full overlap, die-cut and crash-lock bases, book wraps, tray and lid, and other die-cut formats. The style is chosen for how you pack and how the box is opened, not just for what it holds.
Yes, plain or printed. Print and format are specified together because the style affects what can be printed where - see custom printed packaging.
This page is the corrugated carton itself. Bespoke packaging covers the whole fitted solution including inserts, foam and non-carton formats. A typical project uses both - a made-to-size carton with a fitted insert in it.
Yes - packaging stockholding means the run is held and called off in the quantities you need rather than filling your own racking.
It removes the empty volume that volumetric charging is based on, which is usually where the saving sits. Whether that outweighs the unit price depends on your volumes and your carrier terms - a packaging review is how to find out rather than assume.
