A single despatch run needs carrier capacity on one day — which is far easier to secure from the M1 / M6 corridor than from a unit at the end of a B road.
Subscription box fulfilment is the assembly and despatch of a recurring box to a list of subscribers on a fixed date. It looks like ordinary eCommerce fulfilment and behaves almost nothing like it. A normal fulfilment operation handles a steady trickle of different orders; a subscription run is one enormous, identical batch that has to leave on a single day, built from components that all had to arrive first. That creates two failure points that standard fulfilment never encounters. The first is assembly: if the boxes are not built before send day, send day becomes an assembly day and the despatch slips. The second is the list: subscribers skip, pause, swap, cancel, move house and sign up, and a run despatched against a week-old export sends boxes to people who paused and misses people who joined. Neither problem is solved by picking faster. WSUK builds the run in advance from counted components, applies the final subscriber list at cut-off, and despatches the whole month together with tracking returned per subscriber — so send day is quiet.
