Lanark is a small market town in South Lanarkshire, and it does not have a large warehouse sector of its own. What it has is position. The big Central Scotland logistics capacity sits twenty-odd miles north around Eurocentral, Bellshill, Motherwell and Coatbridge, and the M74 runs close by heading north to Glasgow and south to England. For most people, warehouse work "in Lanark" means a local unit or a commute into the Lanarkshire logistics belt.

Lanark and the Lanarkshire logistics belt are not the same place
This matters more here than almost anywhere else on our patch, so let us be exact. Lanark is a town of around 9,000 people in South Lanarkshire, sitting on the Clyde in a largely rural setting.
Eurocentral, which is the name most people associate with Scottish logistics, is a large distribution park in North Lanarkshire, between Motherwell and Coatbridge near the M8. It is roughly twenty miles from Lanark. It is emphatically not in Lanark, and any advert implying otherwise is misleading you about your commute.
The same applies to Bellshill, Motherwell, Wishaw, Coatbridge and Airdrie — all genuine warehouse employment centres, all in the Lanarkshire belt to the north, none of them Lanark.
Closer to home, Carluke and Larkhall sit between Lanark and the main belt and hold smaller industrial and food-production units that are a realistic local option.
What is realistically available
Within Lanark itself and the immediate area you will find smaller-scale warehousing, food production and distribution, agricultural supply and trade units. The roles are real but the volume is modest, so if you are only willing to work in Lanark, expect to wait for the right opening rather than to choose between several.
Widen the radius to Carluke, Larkhall and Hamilton and the options increase substantially. Widen it again to the Motherwell, Bellshill and Eurocentral belt and you are in one of the largest concentrations of distribution capacity in Scotland, with roles available most weeks.
The honest trade-off is travel time against choice. We will lay that out for you rather than pretending every job is on your doorstep.
The roles, and what they need
- Warehouse operative, picker and packer — the volume role across the Lanarkshire belt. Trained on site.
- Counterbalance FLT driver — widely needed, ticket checked.
- Reach truck driver — in shorter supply across Central Scotland than counterbalance, and paid accordingly.
- Chilled and food production operative — a notable part of the Lanarkshire market, with its own temperature and hygiene requirements.
- Goods-in and despatch — paperwork and WMS work.
If you hold a reach or counterbalance ticket, say so at application. Across Central Scotland those tickets travel well and open up work that general picking does not.

Getting there without pretending it is easy
By road, the A73 and A72 connect Lanark to the wider network, meeting the M74 which runs north towards Glasgow and south towards Carlisle and England. The M8 links Glasgow and Edinburgh and runs past the Eurocentral area; the M73 and A8 complete the belt.
By rail, Lanark has a station on a branch line with services towards Glasgow Central via Carluke and Motherwell. That is genuinely useful for reaching Motherwell and Hamilton, less so for the distribution parks themselves, which generally sit away from stations.
The practical summary: for a day shift in Motherwell or Hamilton, public transport can work. For a night shift at Eurocentral, you will need a car. Tell us which applies to you before we put you forward.
